Swing in to the sixties with North Yorkshire Moors

From Saturday 2nd to Sunday 3rd July, visitors to North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) can step back in time and appreciate what a fantastic and groovy time the sixties were.

Guests will experience the best of this fabulous decade, from live 60s floor-fillers performed on the station platform, to its fascinating facts; did you know that the first ever inter-city train was used in 1966? Not to mention the eye catching 60s fashion, for which the attraction is encouraging visitors to throw on their best 60s clothing and step up to this great weekend in some show stopping platforms, paisley prints and the iconic mini skirt.

The Swinging Sixties event will take place across Pickering Station, Levisham Station and Goathland Station, with each one playing host to a number of new additions, available for this weekend only. From a pop up museum displaying 60s memorabilia at Pickering, to live music from The New Amen Corner and Little Miss Sixties at Levisham. Not to mention real ale bars at Goathland and Levisham where mum and dad can quench their thirst in true sixties style and enjoy live music from Jive Express and Tex Leon & Friends.

Chris Price, General Manager at North Yorkshire Moors Railway, said: “Every year we look forward to our Swinging Sixties event and 2016 is no different. It’s always brilliant to see visitors both young and old turning out to celebrate what was a fun and liberating decade, and some of the fancy dress attempts always put a smile on the faces of our team, let alone the guests themselves.”

North Yorkshire Moors Railway is one of the most historic lines in the North of England, taking visitors on picturesque journeys along an 18 mile railway line aboard steam and heritage diesel trains.

The railway passes through stunning scenery, from wooded valleys to beautiful countryside, stopping at charming villages and spectacular seaside locations.

Prices for the Swinging Sixties event start from just £27 for adults, £23 for seniors and £13.50 for children. Or alternatively, families can take advantage of a family ticket for just £56, which grants access to two adults and two children.
