The International Travel Writers Alliance Press Card

The International Travel Writers Alliance (the Alliance) Press Card (the card) is issued to travel writers, editors, broadcasters and photographers (journalists) who have a genuine and professional interest in travelling to write, edit, broadcast or create images.

It is issued to those journalists who have registered with the Alliance and has paid the fee determined by the Alliance.

The card

a) provides recognition that the holder is a professional travel journalist, and

b) offers a range of specific and ongoing opportunities from those travel industry partners and their agencies worldwide who have made such opportunities to the Alliance.

In addition the card is widely recognised and accepted for media accreditation purposes and can secure entrance or admittance to attractions, entertainment and events in destinations throughout the world.

Card holders can also publish their travel features on AllWays traveller : www.allwaystraveller.com.

The exact definition of 'a genuine and professional interest' can be a subjective one and the Alliance reserves the right to apply such definitions as it deems appropriate.

Where an application for a card is refused, that applicant may appeal in writing to the Alliance, whose decision will be final.

Each card issued by the Alliance remains the property of the Alliance and can be withdrawn by the Alliance should this be deemed appropriate.

If this is the case the Alliance will provide the card holder with full details as to the reason for withdrawal.

In addition to the above, and in considering the status of a journalist, the Alliance expects it's card holders to adhere to the standard of professional conduct for journalists engaged in gathering, transmitting, disseminating and commenting on news and information in describing events as adopted by 1954 World Congress of the International Federation of Journalists (amended by the 1986 World Congress.)
